SWEET BEGINNINGS
Planet Doughnut began, as many great businesses do, in the cosy confines of a garage.
Launched in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, the vision was simple yet ambitious: to share the joy of freshly baked, mouth-watering, and exquisitely designed doughnuts that were, quite simply, out of this world. What started as a small-scale home business soon evolved into a full commitment to crafting the perfect doughnut—one that would leave a lasting impression on taste buds across the nation.
After successfully launching several high street stores throughout the Midlands, the growth of Planet Doughnut experienced a significant surge.
THE RISE OF PLANET DOUGHNUT
Word quickly spread about Planet Doughnut's delectable creations, and with that demand soared. What began as a passion project soon outgrew the confines of the garage, prompting the company to take the next big step- moving into a purpose built unit within the Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre. Designed for small to medium enterprises, Planet Doughnut quickly outgrew the building and the only logical next step was to purchase a full scale bakery. With dedication, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to quality, Planet Doughnut closed all its retail stores in 2024 and expanded its operations to set out on a mission to redefine the doughnut experience within the wholesale industry.
WHOLESALE GROWTH & NEW DIRECTION
In 2025, The Delves family acquires the remaining 50% stake in the business, marking the end of a successful five-year partnership with the original founders and the start of a new chapter focused on growth and long-term investment. Since first investing in 2020, the Delves family—who also operate Tuffins Supermarket and Montgomery Waters—have played a pivotal role in scaling operations through the acquisition of a new factory and expansion into wholesale supply. Recognized as one of the UK’s leading doughnut wholesalers, Planet Doughnut products are now available in shops nationwide thanks to strong relationships with major stockists, cafes, restaurants, and wholesale partners who share a passion for quality and excellence.
THE FUTURE
Planet Doughnut has proudly maintained its SALSA accreditation for the third year running, demonstrating its commitment to quality and safety. The bakery is also investing in major improvements to achieve British Retail Consortium (BRC) accreditation, further raising standards across operations. This dedication ensures customers can continue enjoying delicious doughnuts with complete confidence in their quality and safety.
